Agriculture is the key to Uganda’s domestic economy but agricultural efficiency in Uganda, especially on small farms, is still extremely low. You can help change this on a farming volunteering placement in Africa.
If you have practical or academic knowledge in sustainable agriculture or are simply interested in helping local people increase this year’s harvest, you could make an enormous, immediate, and lasting impact on the lives of many people who barely survive on subsistance farming.
With this in mind, Msafiri Tours wants international volunteers to assist in our efforts to provide sufficient food for underprivileged children, orphans, and the disabled. Whether you’d be interested in providing training in modern best farming practices or lending a helping hand at harvest time, you are welcome to join us and share your skills and desire to make a difference. Spending your time and energy on our farm volunteering program will directly address the basic needs of underprivileged children in our rural communities.
Whether taking part in a gap year, summer placement or career break, Msafiri Tours staff will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of farming including animal care, crop growing, flower production, herb cultivation and land management. Additional projects include:
Fencing and netting parts of a site
Planting new seeds and herbs
Helping to build enclosures
Creating a display area for seeds and herbs
Helping with the construction of a rest area for volunteers and planting trees to provide shade.
This farming volunteering opportunity is available for 4 weeks or more. Although you will gain valuable cultural insight and work intensely within the local community, please be aware that you may not be able to make the same impact in a 4 week stay than someone participating for a few months
